The Digital Product Passport (DPP) originates from Directive (EU) 2024/1781 and is a data set containing information on a product's installation, disposal and reparability, among other things.
This information should be digitally accessible to all those involved in the production and supply chain, as well as to end consumers, without any technical barriers. This allows companies to collaborate towards a shared circular economy and enables consumers to make more sustainable purchasing decisions.
In the long term, the DPP is set to apply to all products traded in the EU. Initially, however, it will be used in the following industries: iron and steel; aluminium; textiles, including clothing and footwear; furniture and mattresses; tyres; detergents; paints; lubricants; chemicals; and electronic devices.
