The cost of a DPP, including the years you cannot see yet

A monthly plan plus a small fee per passport. Plans from €490.

The unit you pay for is the digital product passport itself. You pay a small, one-time fee when a passport is published, and a tiny recurring fee for as long as it stays live and resolvable.

The model is transparent by design: you can see exactly how your invoice is built before you commit to anything. We size the actual figures with you, against your product volume and how far you want to automate.

The model

You pay per passport, new and active.

The passport sits at the center. Your plan sets the surrounding rate. Quotas and add-ons are optional layers on top.

New DPP: a small, one-time fee the moment a passport is created and published.

Active DPP: a tiny recurring monthly fee for each passport that stays live and resolvable.

Every passport you issue carries these two fees and nothing else. There is no per-user fee, and you pay nothing for products you have not yet published.

The new-DPP fee is small because issuing a passport is a one-time event. The active fee is deliberately tiny, but it has a job. It keeps each passport hosted, resolvable, and maintained against standards updates for as long as that passport needs to exist. When a product reaches the end of its life and its passport is no longer required, the active fee for it stops.

Plans

A monthly base that scales with you.

A plan is a monthly base that does two things at once. It reduces your per-DPP rate as you grow, and it unlocks deeper automation, integration and customization:

  • Workflows: automate the creation, validation, and publishing of passports.

  • Partner connections: let suppliers and partners contribute the data a passport needs.

  • DPP templates: model each product type once and reuse it.

The larger your plan, the lower each passport costs and the more of the work the platform carries. The right plan depends on your volume and how far you want to automate. We help you pick the right one.

Long-term cost

You see what a passport costs over its whole life, before you decide.

A passport you publish today may have to stay live for a decade or more. Because part of its fee is recurring, the figure that matters is not the monthly rate but the total over the years the passport has to exist. Every quote we send includes the total cost of ownership per DPP across 10, 15 and 20 years, calculated on your own volumes and plan.

You decide with the full number in front of you. It is the figure that should drive the decision, and it is the one most often left out of a pricing conversation.

Add-ons (optional)

Added capabilities

Add-ons are optional and priced on request, because each depends on your systems and your obligations.

  • Custom middleware: connect SecIdent to your existing systems (ERP, MES, PLM) on your terms.

  • File API gateway: exchange passport data as files, simply, where a full integration is not warranted.

  • Release validation documents: receive validation documentation with each new release, for your own audit and qualification needs.

  • Custom SLA: agree availability, support, and response targets that match your operation.

Quotas (optional)

Prepay a fixed volume for a flat, planable invoice

Per-DPP pricing means your invoice moves with your activity. If you would rather plan a fixed cost, you can prepay a quota.

A quota is an agreed volume of new and active passports for a set monthly amount. As long as you stay within it, your invoice is identical every month.

Because a quota is bought ahead and usually carries headroom, it comes at a discount on the equivalent per-DPP rate. Quotas are optional. Stay fully usage-based if you prefer.

Active passports accumulate over time. Unless you archive them as fast as you publish, which is uncommon in the early years, your active volume keeps growing. So we revisit the quota with you from time to time and adjust it to stay matched.

Why SecIdent

Priced for passports that still work years from now

A digital product passport is compliance infrastructure, not a marketing feature. Its job is to keep resolving, validating and complying long after you publish it, through audits, recalls and regulatory change. A passport that stops resolving, or fails an audit, is far more expensive than the system that keeps it alive. Our pricing reflects that responsibility.

  • Maintained against a moving standard. The DPP standards landscape is still being written. Keeping your passports aligned as those standards evolve is included, not a change request you pay for each time.
  • Pharma-grade discipline. SecIdent has run EU pharmaceutical serialization since 2018: unique identification, data integrity and lifetime availability, at scale. The DPP asks for the same discipline, and we already do it.
  • Built and operated entirely in Europe, ISO 27001 certified. Your product and supply-chain data stays under European jurisdiction.
  • Yours to keep, yours to leave. The DPP ecosystem is decentralized by design, and the economic operator is responsible for its own passports. SecIdent is built so you keep your data and your resolver domain and can leave on your terms. That is fidelity to the regulation, not a lock-in.

Pricing FAQ

Questions about pricing and billing

If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Are add-ons required?

No. Middleware, the File API gateway, release validation documents and custom SLAs are optional and quoted to your case. The standard platform works without them.

Does the active-DPP fee run indefinitely?

It applies for as long as the passport stays live. A DPP has to remain available for the period the applicable product regulation requires, and the active fee covers hosting it, keeping it resolvable, and maintaining it against standards updates over that period. When a passport is retired and no longer needs to be available, its active fee ends.

How and when are we billed?

Pricing is in euros and billed monthly. During onboarding you pay a reduced base fee and your published DPPs are not counted, so you can configure and test everything before regular billing begins.

How do quotas work, and when do they save money?

A quota is a prepaid, fixed volume of new and active passports for a set monthly amount, at a discount on the equivalent per-DPP rate. It makes sense when you want a predictable invoice and can estimate your volume: you trade some flexibility for a flat, planable cost. Quotas are optional.

If we leave SecIdent, what happens to our passports?

Your data and your resolver domain remain yours. The DPP ecosystem is decentralized by design, and you, as the economic operator, are responsible for your passports, so SecIdent is built to let you export your data and move your resolver elsewhere. We treat that as a requirement of the regulation, not a concession.

What happens if I stop producing new DPPs?

You can downgrade your plan. Your existing passports keep running at a fraction of the cost, and you can reactivate a full plan at any time when you need to issue again.

What is included in the entry plan?

The monthly base covers platform access, a starting allocation of automation and integration capability (workflows, partner connections and DPP templates), and your per-DPP rate at that plan level. Higher plans lower the rate and raise those allocations. We confirm exactly what your plan includes in the quote.

What is the difference between a new and an active DPP?

A new DPP is charged once, when a passport is created and published. An active DPP is a much smaller recurring monthly charge for each passport that remains live and publicly resolvable. Publishing is a one-time event; keeping a passport available is an ongoing one.
